The Metropolitan Museum and Asia Contemporary Art Week Present Lee Mingwei's "Sonic Blossom"

In collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of ArtAsia Contemporary Art Week (ACAW) presents Lee Mingwei's Sonic Blossom, an intimate interactive performance work about the gift of song. Singers from the Manhattan School of Music will approach museum visitors at random with the question, "May I give you the gift of song?" and if the answer is yes, the vocalist will perform a Schubert lied. Lee's concept for Sonic Blossom grew from his emotional connection to music as a contemplative sanctuary and his desire to share that gift with the public. Sonic Blossom debuted in 2013 at Korea's National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and has since appeared in Beijing, Tokyo, Taipei, and Boston. The performance will run October 30 - November 8, 2015. Click here for a video of the Boston performance.
