Dan Perjovschi | Romania – A retrospective 1985-2025

Corneliu Miklosi Public Transport Museum

The most important retrospective of the artist Dan Perjovschi will transform the former tram depot in Timișoara, today the Corneliu Miklosi Museum, into a space-manifest of four decades of creation. Dan Perjovschi | Romania - A retrospective 1985-2025  brings together drawing, performance, civic actions, protests, publications and ephemeral installations, composing a fresco of Romania from the last 40 years. Free admission. Recognized on the international scene for his incisive, ironic and deeply political style, Dan Perjovschi has exhibited in some of the most prestigious institutions and events of contemporary art: from MoMA New York, Tate Modern London, Centre Pompidou Paris, Moderna Museet Stockholm, to Documenta Kassel, the Venice Biennale, the Istanbul Biennale, the Sydney Biennale and Manifesta. “My career is a roller-coaster through biennials, protests, newspapers, museums and independent spaces. My drawings are visual editorials, they preserve something of the Revolution. Black and white like the free press of the early 90s. My practice is like water: I infiltrate everywhere, I don't create hierarchies – the largest museum in the world and the smallest artist-run-space are equally important. I have freedom and therefore all the responsibility.” — Dan Perjovschi. The exhibition is curated by Magda Radu, Mihaela Tilincă, Dana Sarmeș, Monica Dănilă and Simona Constantin, each addressing an essential dimension of the artist's practice. An extensive program of cultural mediation and related events will take place around the exhibition: daily guided tours, workshops for children and families, dialogues, artist talks, performances , book launches and fanzines .
