JLG Projects: Megan Bogonovich: Fertile Ground
Forthcoming exhibition
Overview
JLG Projects presents: Fertile Ground. In her bold and whimsical ceramics, Megan Bogonovich reimagines the garden as a space of spontaneous, fantastical beauty. She explores the tension between the natural and the artificial, blurring the boundaries between organic growth and human intervention. Working in a meticulous yet playful process, Bogonovich begins by casting handcrafted plaster molds that form the foundation of a visual vocabulary. These forms are then embellished in multiple rounds of glazing and firing to produce surfaces that are both vibrant and pearlescent, showcasing her mastery of the medium. While molds are part of her process, repetition is absent—each piece twists, tilts, and sprawls with a lively, expressive energy she describes as “flamboyant but humble.” Bogonovich’s ceramics bring an optimistic sensibility to human impact on nature, drawing inspiration from her surroundings and delight in the quirky, humorous hybrids that emerge from her process.
